Officials say they responded to the 500 block around 2 a.m. and found two vehicles fully engulfed in flames.

Two vehicles were on fire in the back of the house.

Another vehicle was set on fire and extinguished before fire crews arrived.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames once they arrived on scene.

The homeowners were inside at the time of the blaze. No injuries were reported and the fire only caused minor damage to the back of their home.

Areas of Montgomery Avenue were blocked and taped off while crews handled the incident on Thursday.

“We have no kind of evidence or anything that shows us who may have started this fire, so we’re looking for leads that could lead us in that direction,” Springfield Fire Rescue Division Lt. Daniel Smith said.

Smith said the fires are suspicious and whoever started the fires will face serious felony charges.

Investigators are working to determine how the fire was started.
