House of Thai in Beaver Valley Shopping Center will retain name for now, current owner says

An employee of Thai 9 who is also the sister of the restaurant’s co-owner has reached an agreement to purchase a Beavercreek restaurant.

The purchase of the House of Thai at 3230 Seajay Drive in the Beaver Valley Shopping Center is scheduled to be finalized in November, the restaurant's current owner, Hemant Wiratsorn, told this news outlet Oct. 22.

The new owner is the sister of Thai 9 co-owner Nongyaw Strong, according to Nongyaw’s husband, Thai 9 co-owner Rob Strong. The new owner came to the U.S. from Thailand several years ago and has worked at Thai 9 since shortly after her arrival, Rob Strong said.

Hemant Wiratsorn said the restaurant’s name will remain House of Thai “until further notice.”

The restaurant’s lease is scheduled to expire at the end of this year, Wiratsorn said, and, “It will be better to have the new owner take over the lease.”

“I need to take a break,” Wiratsorn said.

Thai 9 was founded by Rob and Nongyaw Strong in Dayton’s Oregon District 16 years ago.
