With its announcement, Kohl’s joins several other large retailers who have stated plans to hire more seasonal workers this year.
Kohl’s said it anticipates hiring an average of 35 employees per store for the holiday season and hiring 2,200 and 60 employees at distribution centers and credit operations respectively, for a total of 40,375 associates. There are more than a 1,000 in the U.S. Hiring levels will vary depending on the business needs of each facility, according to the company.
Area locations include: 100 Forest Fair Dr. Fairfield; 6825 Roosevelt Ave. Middletown; 7935 Tylersville Rd West Chester Twp.; and a Monroe distribution center.
Seasonal associates can work anywhere from a few hours to more than 20 hours per week. Typical store jobs include unloading trucks, freight processing, stocking and cash register duties. Hiring began this month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November, the company said.
Hiring started at distribution centers in August. Employees working at distribution centers help move products to the retail stores.
Employees working in Kohl’s credit operations perform various jobs, such as assisting customers with kohls.com orders.

Other retailers that will hire more workers this holiday season include Kroger and Best Buy. Kroger has 10 locations in Butler County and is hiring for limited part-time positions, according to a spokeswoman. Best Buy, which has a location in the Bridgewater Falls Lifestyle Shopping Center in Fairfield Twp., is hiring now for 15 to 20 people per store, said Elisha Unger, portable electronics supervisor for Best Buy’s Avon store.
