Kroger VP, of West Chester, dies suddenly

CINCINNATI — Donald Becker, 62, executive vice president of The Kroger Co., died unexpectedly Wednesday after suffering an aneurysm, according to Kroger.

Becker lived in West Chester Twp. with his wife Lynn, according to Kroger.

He started working at Kroger in 1969 as a clerk in the Cincinnati/Dayton division and made his way up. Becker held leadership positions as vice president of the Cincinnati/Dayton division, president of the central division, senior vice president and in 2004, Kroger said he was promoted to executive vice president. In that role, Becker led the company’s merchandising and purchasing for grocery, perishables, drug/general merchandise and pharmacy, according to the Cincinnati company.

The Cincinnati/Dayton division reported to Becker and according to Kroger, he served as co-chairman of Kroger’s first General Office Cultural Council.

Kroger said funeral arrangements are pending.
