Wilbert Castle Jr., 30, is charged with one count of first degree felony possession of drugs and two counts of third degree felony possession. His bond has been set at $500,000.
Castle, who has one previous conviction in Montgomery County for domestic violence, is the only person charged so far in what Dayton police called a significant bust.
The Dayton SWAT team aided police in executing a search of 748 Osmond at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Dayton Police Sgt. John Sullivan said after receiving information about large amounts of traffic in and out of the house, drug officers started investigating and verified that multiple drug transactions had taken place there.
It was decided to use the SWAT team to enter the house because information indicated that individuals in the house were heavily armed at all times.
“Our SWAT team was involved to minimize the risk to both sides,” Sullivan said.
Once the house was secured and at least five individuals inside were detained, police searched the house and several vehicles and found multiple ounces of various drugs, at least $10,000 in cash and several guns.
Drug officers confiscated two vehicles and items from the home including big screen TVs.
According to court records, Castle’s charges involve possession of at least 100 grams or 3.5 ounces of crack cocaine, at least 10 grams of heroin and at least 3.5 ounces of cocaine.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 2.
