A LexisNexis spokesman confirmed the job cuts, but did not say where the cuts will be distributed or if any of the layoffs would be in the Dayton area.
“After careful thought and consideration during integration planning, we’ve determined that 205 roles will be eliminated nationally,” Walsh wrote in an email to co-workers. “Going forward, these roles will be carried out by the El Segundo-based Internet Brands team in California.
“Employees were notified earlier today,” Walsh added. “This has been a very tough day and we are providing our full support to these individuals as they seek new career opportunities. I would like to thank them for their service to the company — many of whom have been with the esteemed Martindale-Hubbell business for many years.”
As LexisNexis parent Reed Elsevier announced last month, the joint venture was to offer customers website hosting, online listings and other marketing services. The venture paired legal directory firm Martindale-Hubbell, part of LexisNexis, with Internet Brands online marketing services.
Walsh also said in his email that Phil Livingston, chief executive of LexisNexis marketing and business solutions, will be leaving the company as a result of the joint venture.
Research and content giant LexisNexis employs 3,600 people at a Miami Twp. campus.
The Martindale-Hubbell headquarters is in New Providence, N.J.
