“That was my first time ever juggling in front of people and I liked that,” Cain said.
Cain, now 40, said that chance moment has led him to 26 years as a professional juggler, winning dozens of international awards and entertaining people at thousands of churches with acts of juggling, music, comedy, indoor boomerang throwing, ball spinning, lasso tricks, whip cracking and anything else to help him get his Gospel message out in a creative way. He also has ministered with Billy Graham and Focus on the Family.
The “Juggler for Jesus” claims 13 recorded Guinness world records in juggling, boomerang throwing, pole balancing and ball spinning.
“One of my claims to fame in the world of juggling is I’m considered one of the most versatile jugglers in the world,” he said. “Learning new things allows me to keep interested in what I am doing and also gives me more tools to share the different messages.”
Cain’s most recent record June 10 was balancing a 58-foot fiberglass pole on his chin for 21.06 seconds. This broke the previous record of 54.5 feet. Cain said he would have balanced a 60-foot pole, but the rafters in the church where he performed created limitations. It took him two years to master the skill, and he hopes to appear on one of Guinness’ television programs to attempt to break his own record.
Now that he has a wife and two children, Cain said he doesn’t perform as often, but when he does, he likes to take one or all of them with him to share their juggling talents.
VanGorden Elementary student Isabel Cain, 7, said her specialty is spinning plates. She and her brother Ethan, 8, practice juggling and music with their dad 30 minutes each evening during the summer and regularly during the rest of the year as time allows.
“I’m kind of happy about being kind of famous,” she said.
