The Combined Agency OVI Task Force of Montgomery County announced the location of the OVI checkpoint scheduled for Friday night in Dayton.
The checkpoint was from 7 to 11 p.m. in the North Gettysburg Avenue and Kings Highway area. State law requires law enforcement to announce times and locations of sobriety checkpoints.
The OVI Task Force aims to reduce the amount of drug- and alcohol-related crashes, injuries and fatalities in Montgomery County.
Over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, task force officers urge residents who plan to drink alcohol to designate a sober driver or make other arrangements to get home safely.
There were 584 alcohol-related and 236 drug-related crash in Montgomery in 2019, according to the task force. Of those, 13 were deadly.
