DASH CAM: Police shocked during scuffle in Dayton, officers injured

Aaron Goings was charged with three counts of assault on a peace officer, possession of drigs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Goings case is expected to be presented to a grand jury, records show.

UPDATE @ 3:05 p.m. (May 25):

Two Dayton police officers were transported to the hospital after a scuffle with a man who was arrested after police responded to a call of a possible prowler, according to city officials.

During the scuffle in the 100 block of North Wright Avenue early Friday morning, the suspect, Aaron Goings, 26, “grabbed an officer’s deployed Taser and pulled the trigger,” officials said in a prepared statement.

“He shocked himself and also shocked the three officers who were hit by the Taser wires,” a city spokesperson said.

Goings also is accused of grabbing an officer’s pepper spray.

One of the three officers had a broken finger and the other had another had cuts and a head injury, the city said.  Both were treated and released from the hospital.

Goings was booked into jail on suspicion of assault on an officer, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and drug possession.

INITIAL REPORT:

A man got into a physical altercation with at least one Dayton police officer and pepper sprayed the official, prompting a ‘Signal 99’ officer assistance call early Friday morning.

A police report states officials arrested Aaron Goings, 26, in the 100 block of N. Wright Avenue after being dispatched on a suspicious circumstance call around 1 a.m.

Goings, who was reportedly injured as a result of the fight, was transported to Grandview Medical Center.

No word on his condition.

He is not currently listed on the Montgomery County Jail website at this time, but the report states his charges include assault, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, possession of drugs, and possessing a drug abuse instrument.

Officials from several jurisdictions in Montgomery County responded to the assistance call.
