Oh, crap! Mystery farmer drops 10-mile trail of manure

UPDATE @ 9:55 a.m.: 

A truck lost a load of manure over an estimated 10-mile stretch of Ohio 185 through parts of Darke County Friday morning, according to officials.

Work crews who came out to begin work on a water pipe extension discovered about 8-inches of manure covering the roadway around 7 a.m. Friday.

ODOT crews have responded to the scene and will assist with the clean-up.

The manure trail starts near the intersection of Ohio 721 and Ohio 185 and continues north into Versailles on Ohio 185, according to our crew on the scene.

There was no word if investigators knew who was responsible for the spill.

FIRST REPORT

Officers are working on traffic control after a truck apparently lost a load of manure in Darke County.

Around 7 a.m., police were called to assist the street department after a farmer appeared to drop manure. The spill goes "a long way" according to scanner traffic.

Officers are working to locate where the spill started and who is responsible.

Dispatchers did not know what all streets were impacted, but said officers are in the 1000 block of South Center Street in Versaiiles.
