A highly traveled stretch of Stroop Road in Kettering will close in both directions from Labor Day through the end of the year to replace a bridge.

Montgomery County officials estimate the cost of the project, replacing the deteriorating bridge over the Little Beaver Creek, will cost $1.4 million. Once the project is complete, Stroop Road will go back to its normal traffic pattern of two lanes in each direction.

The half-mile stretch of Stroop Road that will close runs from Woodman Drive east to the Glenheath/Braddock intersection. City officials encourage drivers to use Dorothy Lane and Woodman Drive as detours while the road is closed.

The road is a gateway to some notable businesses and schools in both directions. Here are some of the businesses and locations that will be impacted by the closure:

  • A Little Place to Grow Inc: 2101 E. Stroop Rd.
  • Routsong Funeral Home & Cremation Services: 2100 E. Stroop Rd.
  • Kettering Assembly of God: 2250 E. Stroop Rd.
  • Tannenberg Kennels, Inc.: 2625 E. Stroop Rd.
  • Bethany Church of Christ: 2755 E. Stroop Rd.
  • Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza: 2801 E. Stroop Rd.
