City to begin annual cemetery clean up Monday

To prepare for the annual spring clean up of the Riverside and Rosehill cemeteries in Troy, the city is asking residents to remove wreaths, decorations and other items left at the cemetery.

The ground-mounted decorations will be removed beginning Monday, March 2. Spring wreaths, gravestone saddles and other appropriate decorations can be placed starting April 1.

Farm bureau, FFA to screen “Farmland”

The Miami County Farm Bureau and the Newton FFA will host a screening of “Farmland” at the Newton School cafeteria Sunday, March 1, at 3 p.m.

County, cities to share cost of hazardous materials coordinator

A memorandum of understanding for funding a part-time Miami County hazardous materials coordinator was approved Thursday, Feb. 26, by the county commissioners. The agreement includes Troy, Piqua, Tipp City and the county contributing to the annual program budget of $21,000. The cost is based on emergency hazardous sites reporting under state law and allocated as follows: Piqua, 28 percent; Troy, 45 percent; Tipp City, 12 percent; and Miami County, 15 percent.
