Two Miami University students reported suspicious activity involving an internet site to find babysitting jobs.

The two women reported Nov. 21 to Oxford police that they are registered on a site called “Oxford Sitter Supply,” which is used to employ babysitters in the area. They explained they post profiles and people can contact them to hire them as sitters.

They said they had both been contacted by a male who said he wanted to employ them for his child or children. They told the officer he said he wanted to meet them at Walmart in the evening when he gets off work.

They said they both became suspicious when they learned he also had contacted other potential sitters on the internet site and provided different ages for his children and even different sexes for them. In all the cases they knew of, however, he wanted to meet them outside Walmart after dark.

One of the women said she had contacted the site administrator and requested that he be blocked. The officer reached out to the store to see whether someone matching the description works there, but had not received confirmation at the time of the report.
