This is expected to increase the independent insurance agency’s client base at least 10 percent, Mike Miller said.
“With this Keystone arrangement, now we have simply expanded the products we offer,” said Paul Nisbet, vice president of Miller, who added ownership doesn’t change as a result.
Miller Insurance, 36 S. Breiel Blvd., is a third-generation independent insurance agency started in 1939 by Martin Miller. His son, Mike Miller and Mike’s sons, Nick and Shane, now help run the agency.
As an independent agency, Miller offers business, automobile and homeowners insurance products and financial services including life, medical and disability income from multiple insurance companies such as Grange, Westfield or Travelers — meaning clients can get multiple quotes from different insurance companies.
This year Miller also received senior partner status level from Grange and started a new division in June — Frances Roberts Salon & Spa Insurance Company, offered nationwide through Traveler’s. Keystone, the fifth largest independent insurance agency, made the approach for a partnership. Miller paid a fee and in turn gets access to the Pennsylvania firm’s companies and programs, Mike Miller added.
Keystone enables Miller to have contracts with higher commission because Keystone has a larger volume of clients, expands Miller’s product lines, provides training and offer resources in the form of 200 partner agencies across the United States.
“It just gives us a lot more confidence going to different businesses knowing someone has our back,” Shane Miller said.
Miller Insurance opened offices in 2003 in Dublin and in 2009 in Mariemont. It has 10 employees.
