Over 700 hats, scarves, mittens and gloves were collected by children apart of a local church to donate to children in need this winter.
The Tipp City United Methodist Church held a Mitten Mission Competition between their two youth programs, kindergarten to fifth grade and sixth through 12th grade.
Items collected will be donated to the Dayton Police Department to hand out to children in the area who need something to help keep warm this winter season.
The friendly competition ended up benefiting the community, church member Jessica Busboom said.
