According to the Montgomery County Board of Elections, Republicans Scott Kramer and Harry Bossey are challenging Keith.
Bossey lost to Keith in 2010, 53 percent to 47 percent.
If Keith has no Democratic challengers, he'll move on to the November election. If Bossey and Kramer both make the ballot, they will be the subjects of a run-off election in May. The filing deadline for candidates is Feb. 5.
Keith, appointed county auditor in December 2000 after serving as chief deputy auditor for more than nine years, successfully ran for election in 2002. He won re-election in 2006 and again in 2010.
"During my career in local government, I have built a strong record of leadership and innovation throughout Montgomery County and beyond," he said.
"My staff and I are constantly looking for ways to improve our services through the use of the latest technology like our geographic information system and our new mobile real estate application. Using advanced techniques during this year's update of property values will allow us to save hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars."
He said, "As our communities struggle to deal with the aftermath of the Great Recession, I want the auditor's office to be seen as a valuable resource by making the data we generate readily available to local decision-makers," Keith said. "Making local government more accountable, more transparent, and more accessible will always be my primary goal as auditor."
