High school names top students for year

West Carrollton High School has named its valedictorian and salutatorian for this school year.

Emma Mattingly has been named valedictorian. She plans to attend Cleveland State University to major in sustainable urban development and minor in Spanish.

Samantha Cornely has been named salutatorian. She plans to major in music education at Bowling Green State University.

The school’s graduation is set for 7:30 p.m. May 28 at the Schuster Center in Dayton. STAFF REPORT.

Screenings are scheduled as follows: Tuesday, May 12, from 9-11 a.m. at Kettering Recreation Complex, 2900 Glengarry Dr., Kettering; Wednesday, May 13, from 9-11 a.m., Samaritan Sleep Center, 80 East Woodbury Dr., Dayton; and 1-4:30 p.m., Wright State Physicians Health Center; Thursday, May 14, from 1-4:30 p.m., Upper Valley Medical Center, Cancer Care Center, 3130 N. 2 career tech students finish second state auto skills competition

Two students from Kettering Fairmont Career Technical Center claimed second-place honors Thursday at the Ohio Finals of the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills competition in Independence Ohio.

Emanuel Gibson and Logan Wilkinson, led by instructor Scott Beirise, competed against nine other teams. In addition to the trophy the team won tools and each student received nearly $30,000 in scholarship offers.
