Motorcyclist slams into pickup truck in Darke County

A motorcyclist slammed into the rear of a pickup truck this afternoon in Darke County.

The crash happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Reed Road in Richland Twp., according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

A green 1996 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old from Greenville was headed north on U.S. 127 and had stopped at the intersection of Reed Road to make a left turn. Meanwhile, a black 1985 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Mitchel Paul Grieshop, 25, of Versailles, also was traveling north on U.S. 127.

Grieshop tried to slow down and laid down the motorcycle, but he slid underneath and out the front of the pickup truck. Grieshop, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by Ansonia Rescue to Miami Valley Hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

The crash remains under investigation.
