“We’ve done very well in surrounding areas and we think we will do well here too,” said Danielle Winslow, a Chipotle spokeswoman. “We look to put restaurants in locations where a high volume of our customers are, specifically in urban and suburban areas with strong residential and daytime populations. Preferred generators include residential, office, retail, university, recreation and hospitals.”
The new Chipotle location announcement follows the company’s first National Career Day, on Sept. 9, that was aimed at hiring 4,000 new employees, according to the company. Each Chipotle location across the country held open interviews for up to 60 applicants.
Chipotle reports it employs more than 60,000 people nationwide, and it has promoted more than 10,000 people into management roles, who started as hourly crew, over the last year.
“We believe that our success is the direct result of our incredibly strong people culture, which is rooted in having teams of all top performers, and developing them to be the leaders we will need to accommodate our growth,” said Monty Moran, a Chipotle co-chief executive officer, in a written statement. “We are constantly looking for great people to join our team.”
