The new hotel amenities include free Wi-Fi, free breakfast, a small gift shop, swimming pool and a small bar that will cater to guests, but will be open to the public. Rooms microwaves, a mini-fridge, and partitions that allow guests to have a small living room area that has a desk and sofa.
“You get a two-room suite for the price of one,” Patel said. “Some clients like the larger room and the divided space. It feels more homely.”
Springhill Suites will become the 13th hotel in the Miller Lane area.
“It is always great to see new businesses and new construction happening in the area,” Vogel said. “The township collects a lodging tax of three percent of the rent for each transient guest or guests which occupy rooms in the hotels.”
The hotels in this area are included in the Joint Economic Development Zoning district, which allows the township to receive income tax for this area.
The KB Hotel Group owns nine hotels that are within an hour of the Dayton-area. Patel said his family’s company chose the Miller Lane retail area to build the latest hotel because the company has done well with the Hampton Inn & Suites.
“We saw a need for a newer product that served to a similar clientele and Springhill Suites by Marriott is a very strong brand. We saw the opportunity to close out the gap of what was needed at that exit,” Patel said.
