ODOT, AAA partner to give free car checks to senior drivers

ODOT and AAA partnered to give senior drivers free car checks, which provided at 12-point check to see how senior drivers and their cars work together.

“Our program all hinges around something called ‘keeping the keys’. We want drivers to be in that driver’s seat as long as they can safely do so,” said AAA Public Affairs Manager Cindy Antrican.

AAA also offered free vehicle maintenance inspections to help drivers get ready for winter.

According to 2017 data from ODOT, road users 65 and older were involved in 1,622 serious injury crashes and 265 fatal crashes, and road users 65 and older in Montgomery County had over 3,200 fatal and injury crashes between 2013 and 2017, which puts Montgomery County in the top five counties.
