ODOT to install cable barriers on I-75 in Shelby County to help prevent crossover crashes

The installation of cable barriers on I-75 from the Shelby-Auglaize County line to the Shelby-Miami County line has begun, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

This project began Sep. 17, the same day that a multi-vehicle crash near Sidney occurred when a vehicle crossed over the median killing that driver.

A Shelby County Sheriff asked ODOT to expedite the installation of the cables, which do help prevent crossover crashes.

A second crash that also occurred on Sep. 17 in Miami county, who has the cable barriers, kept an erratic driver from crossing over from the northbound lane into the southbound lane.
