Dayton OVI checkpoint results released

UPDATE Dec. 22: A total of 236 vehicles passed through an OVI checkpoint at N. Main Street and W. Hillcrest Avenue conducted by the Dayton Police Department and Montgomery County OVI Task Force Friday evening.

One felony and one misdemeanor drug arrest was made.

At E. Third and Terry Streets, one OVI and one drug arrest was made with 143 vehicles passing through.

Another OVI arrest was made at S. Keowee St. and E. Fifth St. with 141 passing vehicles.

FIRST REPORT Dec. 21: The Dayton Police Department and Montgomery County OVI Task Force will conduct an OVI checkpoint Friday evening.

The checkpoint will begin at 8 p.m. in the area of North Main Street and Hillcrest Avenue.

Dayton police and Montgomery County OVI Task Force are administering the checkpoint to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities, according to a OVI Task Force press release.
