Police unsure how long older model sedan was submerged in Dayton lake

No one was found inside a car that was discovered submerged today in a lake that borders South Gettysburg Avenue and Lakeside Drive in Dayton.

Police said they will be checking witness reports that there are other vehicles in the lake.

What appears to be an older model sedan-type vehicle has been pulled from a Dayton lake after it was spotted by a fisherman today.

A dive team was used to hook the car to the tow truck, which hauled the vehicle out of the water from the lake that borders South Gettysburg Avenue and Lakeside Drive.

Police said it’s not clear how long the vehicle has been in the water. It was discovered by a fisherman who was in an area along the bank that had recently been cleared of brush, according to police.

There are no reports of anyone needing rescued.

A dive team has been called to the scene where a vehicle has been discovered submerged in the lake that borders South Gettysburg Avenue and Lakeside Drive in Dayton.

Dayton Sgt. Creigee Coleman said a person who was fishing in an area that was recently cleared of brush discovered the submerged vehicle and reported it this morning.

It’s unclear how long the vehicle has been in the water, or whether a body will need to be recovered.

Police and emergency personnel in Dayton are responding to the report of a vehicle being found submerged in the pond at Lakeside and Oak Leaf drives.

Authorities were notified and dispatched on the call at 11:35 a.m.
