UD police investigating allegations of rape

University of Dayton police have confirmed the agency is investigating two allegations of rape believed to have occurred on Aug. 20.

One incident reportedly happened at a campus residence hall on Caldwell Street and another on Kiefaber Street, according to a university crime log. Although the first allegation was reported on Aug 20 and the latter on the following day, Chief Bruce E. Burt said it is believed both incidents occurred on Aug. 20.

He would not confirm or deny whether those involved were students but said the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the allegations.

“I really can’t speculate (further),” Burt said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”

No arrests have been made, according to Burt.

A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office did not immediately respond to requests for a comment on Tuesday.
