The suspect, only identified as a woman, was not hit by the shot, but was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, said Greg Adkins, Deputy Chief of Police. The woman has not been charged, but could face misdemeanor charges, Adkins said.

Officers were requested around 1 a.m. to the area of North First and East Main streets on reports of a woman in a downtown bar who was apparently loading a handgun and was highly upset, police said.
During the incident, the woman raised a weapon towards the officer, who responded by firing one shot at her, Adkins said.
After the officer’s shot was fired, the woman dropped the gun and was taken into custody, according to police.
Further investigation found the weapon the woman had was a “toy gun” that was painted black, Adkins said.
The officer who fired the shot was not identified and is on paid administrative leave, which is protocol.
