Power pole work keeps stretch of Ohio 741 in Springboro closed until Thursday

The replacement of a power pole on state Route 741 in Springboro should be completed tonight, city of Springboro officials communicated via Twitter, and that means the road should be open and accessible Thursday morning for the start of school.

The stretch of road (South Main Street in the city) between Edinburgh Drive and the entrance to Springboro Junior High School has been shut down for much of Wednesday while Duke energy crews set the pole.

An electrical issue caused the shutdown, city officials said via the social media platform, and officials with Duke informed city officials Wednesday afternoon that the state route would be closed several hours.

Just after 8 p.m., Duke officials said electric service to the affected area of Springboro would be restored within 2 hours.

City officials are asking drivers to continue to avoid the area until Thursday morning.

We will update this report as information becomes available.
