UPDATE @ 6:40 p.m.:
A 2-year-old riding on the passenger-side floor of a stolen vehicle involved in a three-vehicle crash this afternoon escaped serious injury.
Two others trapped inside the stolen Chevrolet Impala suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash dispatched at 12:23 p.m. today on Salem Avenue in Harrison Twp., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies said.
The driver of Impala fled but was quickly apprehended at the corner of Hillcrest and Grant avenues. The 23-year-old, whose name was not yet released, may have suffered a broken arm. Security video from DJ’s Furniture showed the man running from the crash. He later was loaded into the back of an ambulance.
The toddler was taken to a local hospital to be examined, Capt. Jeremy Roy said.
Although the driver of the stolen car fled, he may not be the at-fault driver.
“I didn’t see nothing that was coming. When I pulled out, he hit me,” said motorist Joe Bryant who was coming from a private drive in a Kia minivan. “I don’t know where he came from.”
The impact sent the Impala left of center. It then struck a Dodge SUV that was turning right to head south on Salem Avenue from a private drive, deputies said.
