Reward offered in cell phone store burglaries

The owner of several local cell phone stores is fed up with being targeted by burglars and is offering a reward in an effort to solve the latest break-in.

The alleged crime occurred between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Cricket store, 5001 Brandt Pike in Huber Heights, according to owner Mohammad Rihan. Three men entered through the back door after cutting the wires for the alarm system, he said.

The suspects, wearing grey hoodies, black bandanas over their faces, gloves and jeans, were captured on video surveillance rummaging inside the store for about one hour. They emptied cash registers, stole phones and accessories and gained access to the office and safe; three days worth of sales amounting to thousands of dollars were taken, Rihan said.

Rihan said he owns 13 Cricket stores in the Dayton area and several have been targeted by burglars. He is offering a "significant" reward for information that leads to an arrest.

One suspect appears to be wearing tennis shoes with red soles. To provide a tip, call Huber Heights police at (937) 233-2080.
