Robber hits Family Dollar in Riverside; Clerk locks herself in back room

UPDATE @ 10:20 p.m.: The clerk at the Family Dollar ran to a back room and locked herself in when the robber walked in, showing a weapon. He also took cigarettes along with the money he stole, Riverside police tell us.

FIRST REPORT

One person reportedly was locked in a closet or office by the invader who robbed the Family Dollar store in Riverside.

Police are searching for a male, dressed in all black including a mask, who displayed a weapon in making off with cash that was put into a Family Dollar bag at the business, 5424 Burkhardt Ave.

The robbery was reported just after 9 p.m.

According to police, witnesses are not sure whether the robbery took off on foot or in a vehicle.

There are no reports of injury. We're working to find out more about what happened.
