Our crew on scene say the car that flipped was heavily damaged. The impact even caused a bird to fall out of the tree the driver struck, our crew was told.

The driver, who police say is suspected of drunk driving, was transported to a local hospital along with the passenger of the vehicle. Their names were not released.

A crash reconstruction team was called to the crash site.

The wreck has blocked both directions of Pershing Boulevard and the road is expected to be closed until further notice.
