RTA: New transit center to help control crowd behavior

DAYTON — The new Greater Dayton RTA Wright Stop Plaza Transit Center will open Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Buses will be routed through the transit center, which is adjacent to RTA headquarters at Third and Main streets. Officials hope the new transit center will relieve congestion at the intersection. They say it also will give RTA more control over behavior of people waiting for buses because the transit center is on private property rather than the public sidewalk.

Numerous downtown bus stops will be eliminated and riders are to catch the bus at the transit center.

RTA will station employees at former bus stops near Third and Main streets to direct riders to the center and to answer questions.
