The 86,000-square-foot storefront, which is targeting a February opening, is seeking cashiers, loaders, sales associates, an assistant manager, a receiving manager and an office manager, as well as those familiar with small engine repair, Lodes said. Eighteen to 20 of the 65 available positions will be full-time, he said.
“In this time, any new jobs full or part-time are very positive for the community,” said Stacey Dietrich-Dudas, Hamilton’s economic development specialist.
Rural King locations offer livestock feed, farm equipment, agricultural parts, lawn mowers, work wear, tools, housewares and toys, Lodes said.
Established in 1960, the third-generation family-owned business operates 52 locations in a seven-state area of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Michigan and Missouri.
The new location, which will be the sixth location in Ohio, is a departure for Rural King, which typically avoids metro areas, according to Bobby Benjamin, associate broker with Cleveland-based Goodman Real Estate Services Group.
“Normally, they go into more rural and outlying county seats with less population, but this just happens to be the right place on the map for where they wanted to be,” Benjamin said. “I convinced them that if you go outside the retail zone a few minutes you’re into farm country anywhere you look.”
The new location is next door to Tractor Supply Co. and less than half a mile from Lowe’s.
“Hopefully they can all have their niche and all be successful,” Dietrich-Dudas said.
