Save-A-Lot robbed, owner tied up in Union City

Police are looking for two black males who robbed the Save-A-Lot on West Deerfield Road late Sunday night.

Officers believe that when the owner was leaving the store after it closed at 9 p.m. Sunday, he was forced back inside by the two suspects who had guns drawn, according to police. The suspects forced the owner to open the safe and bound his legs and hands with zip-ties.

Around 10 a.m. Monday, the suspect's cries for help were heard by employees of a neighboring business.

The suspects were wearing masks and gloves, and police said they don't have a description of the vehicle they fled in. Investigators said they are hoping surveillance cameras from nearby businesses may have caught the men fleeing the store.

The owner had been hit at least once, but refused transport to the hospital.

The Darke County Sheriff's Office in Ohio is assisting with the investigation.
