Today was special for a couple who has been together for more than 20 years.

Lorraine Massie and Tommy Faircloth married at Grafton Oaks Nursing Home.

Tears filled the room as friends, family and staff gathered to watch the couple tie the knot and say I do.

“We really love each other, and I don’t want to lose him,” Lorraine said.

The two met 20 years ago at work and have been inseparable ever since, but their plans never included getting married.

“I guess he thought it was time to get married, and he asked me to marry so here we are,” Lorraine said.

With the help of the staff, Grafton Oaks Nursing Home hosted its first wedding by transforming one of the rooms at the facility. Staff decorated it with balloons, flowers, cake and a even had a DJ on hand.

So what changed Lorraine and Tommy’s minds about getting married?

Lorraine said 2019 has been a year of hardships, including health problems and losing everything they had in the Memorial Day tornadoes.

“We’ve been through a lot together. So, it’s time to get ready to start a new year for us,” she said.

The couple finally made it official, and with or without it all, these two know they’ll always have each other.
