Sentencing for fugitive ex soccer coach set

The sentencing date has been set for a fugitive former soccer coach who fled the area in the middle of his trial for sexual conduct with a 14-year-old girl he used to coach.

Justin K. Smith is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 3.

After 45 days on the run, the 41-year-old was captured in a Fort Walton Beach, Fla., townhome.

Smith was nabbed after a woman he met through an online dating site researched him and learned of his conviction.

He was held in the Okaloosa County Jail until he was picked up Thursday by local law enforcement and flown back to Ohio.

Smith was booked in the Montgomery County Jail Thursday evening.

On Nov. 2, Smith was convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, sexual battery and sexual imposition.
