FAIRFIELD - Servatii, a popular Cincinnati-based pastry shop, is open for business at its 12th location today, Aug. 16.

Servatii opens its newest location near Fairfield’s Village Green at 700 Nilles Road today.

The pastry shop will operate a bakery and a frozen-yogurt selection, a relatively new concept for the small chain, said Barry Rhoten, Servatii general manager.

“Frozen yogurt is a brand new thing they started with the last Servatii opening in Fountain Square and it’s been very successful. That’s the only one that has it besides Fairfield,” Rhoten said.

By far, the most popular item are the pretzels, but cakes, cookies and pastries are also offered.

A deli, available in some of the Servatii locations, will not be available.

“Geographically, we don’t have one in that area,” he said. “The closest is the Servatii on Cox Road in Voice of America shopping center. Geographically, it just made sense,” he said, adding the Servatii on Cox Road in West Chester Twp. has been a success.

The decision to locate in Fairfield also makes sense to City of Fairfield officials.

“Servatii’s has a great regional presence ... it will be good for the town center area,” said Tim Bachman, director of development.

“I think it will be a good mix with the existing businesses,” Bachman said, “and it will bring people into the area and hopefully have a ripple effect.”
