Shelby County animal shelter exceeds $2.4M fundraising goal

The snow didn't postpone a major milestone Saturday in the construction of the new Bob Sergeant and Family Shelby County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, according to News Center 7's Northern Bureau Chief Steve Baker.

Volunteers reached, and exceeded by $20,000, the goal of $2.4 million to build the new shelter.

The shelter also unveiled the exterior design for the center Saturday morning during a ceremony in Sidney.

Members of the committee say the facility is expected to be completed in time for a dedication over the Labor Day holiday weekend.
