Passenger pinned under van after rollover crash that shut down I-70 W

UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.

A passenger was pinned underneath a van following a rollover crash tonight that shut down westbound Interstate 70 just east of state Route 72 south of Springfield.

The van rolled over just before 7 p.m., pinning a 32-year-old man under the vehicle. He was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

The driver also was taken to a local hospital, and there is no word on the conditions of either crash victim.

Traffic rolled through smoothly on the eastbound side as troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post worked to investigate the crash.

I-70 is back open following a rollover crash with entrapment.

The crash victim was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

FIRST REPORT

All westbound lanes of I-70 are shut down this evening for a rollover crash with entrapment east of state Route 72.

The single-vehicle crash was reported shortly before 7 p.m. at the 55 mile marker, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.

A CareFlight medical helicopter has been called.

According to initial reports, a man in his 30s is pinned under the vehicle.
