Shadows Pub is now open at 136 N. 1st St. in Fairborn, replacing the former B&D Lounge. The space was built as a church and has served as a Loyal Order of Moose lodge and JC's Lounge, according to Don McKee, co-owner of the new bar.
McKee and his family have owned The Layne Lounge in the Park Layne/New Carlisle area for four years, “and based on the success of the first one, we were ready to take on another challenge,” McKee told this news outlet. “We looked at many locations in the surrounding areas and luckily we were able to partner with B&D's, so it worked out well for both of us.”

“It was convenient because the building was already running as a bar, so it was more of an easy transition,” McKee said. “We have family members that have served in the military, so we liked the idea of the second bar being right by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. It just provides another gathering place for people to get together and have a good time.”
One of the new owners’ first priorities is to renovate and spruce up the patio and outdoor space to boost capacity during busy summer evenings, McKee said. Renovation of the pub’s ground-floor kitchen is in the long-term plans.

In addition to daily drink specials, Shadows Pub offers several events, including open-mic night on Thursdays, darts tournaments on Fridays, live music on Saturdays, and darts leagues on other nights of the week. Plans call for adding corn hole tournaments and beer pong later in the year, and to sponsor traveling darts teams, McKee said.
The veteran-owned pub got its name from a family member who “was taken too soon due to a motorcycle crash, and ‘Shadow’ was his biker name,” McKee said.
Shadows Pub is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
