Springfield man flown to Columbus hospital from scene of motorcycle crash

Fountain Avenue between College Avenue and North Street has reopened as Springfield police leave the scene of a motorcycle crash, according to dispatchers.

Motorcyclist Joshua Salyers, 28, of Springfield, was taken by CareFlight from the scene to Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus with unknown injuries.

Dispatchers said Salyers was injured after he drove through a red light and struck another car. The driver of the car is reportedly uninjured.

Additional details regarding the crash and the severity of Salyers injuries will be available later today, according to dispatchers.

Fountain Avenue between College Avenue and North Street remains closed as Springfield police investigate an injury crash Sunday morning.

Springfield dispatchers said an injured motorcyclist was taken from the scene by CareFlight to a Columbus hospital.

Little is known about what caused the crash or the severity of the victim's injuries. Dispatchers could not confirm if anyone else suffered injuries in the crash.

INITIAL REPORT

A motorcycle and car collided tonight in Springfield, sending one crash victim by medical helicopter to an area hospital.

The crash shut down Fountain Avenue between College Avenue and North Street.

The Springfield Police Division said the road would remain closed for several hours into the early morning on Sunday while police investigate.

There were no reports of other injuries.. We will update this report as we learn new details.
