Springfield police say death is suspicious

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Twenty-two-year-old George W. McKinster II was found pale and not breathing Saturday evening. A 31-year-old woman he knew tried to wake him up and found him unresponsive.

The two had laid down to take a nap around 5 p.m. at 33 East Cassilly Street.  The man was pronounced dead Saturday night at Springfield Regional Medical Center.  The Montgomery County Coroner will investigate the death, which police say is suspicious.

The woman told officers that McKinster had been crushing and snorting high-dose prescription pills Friday, and again just before the nap.

A 25-year-old woman related to McKinster came to the house later Saturday evening. Police say she shattered a TV, ransacked the house, and took a laundry basket full of McKinster’s clothing. A witness told police they heard the 25-year-old state “I’m going to make sure you die right where my brother did.” and “I’m going to come back for you.”

The 25-year-old woman denied that she ransacked the home or broke the television, but admitted to going to the residence to pick up some of McKinster’s belongings. She told police the 31-year-old woman and McKinster had been fighting and destroying the residence.

Police did not file charges against the 25-year-old woman due to conflicting statements.
