State Patrol to set up OVI checkpoint in Clark County

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold an OVI checkpoint in Clark County Friday evening.  The location of the checkpoint will be announced Friday morning.  The OVI checkpoints are paid for with federal funds according to a presses release from the State Patrol.  The commander of the Springfield post, Lieutenant Matt Cleaveland, says, "Based on provisional data, there were 415 OVI-related fatal crashes in which 462 people were killed last year in Ohio.  OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving, but to proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways."  The State Patrol says on average 25,000 OVI arrests are made each year.
