AK Steel raises carbon steel prices

WEST CHESTER TWP. — AK Steel Corp. will increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products, effective with all new orders.

Base prices for hot rolled products will increase by $40 per ton while base prices for cold rolled products will increase by $50 per ton. In addition, base prices for coated products will increase by $60 per ton, according to the company.

AK Steel makes flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels for the auto, appliance, construction, and electrical power generation industries. Its flagship plant, Middletown Works, is based in Middletown and the company’s headquarters are on Centre Pointe Drive in West Chester Twp.

Company shares were down 8 cents to $19.47 during afternoon trading today, Sept. 2.
