Power restored to thousands in the region after Thursday’s storms

Strong storms that moved through the region Thursday night into Friday morning knocked out power to thousands.

As of 6:30 a.m. Friday, there are still 131 people without power in Miami County, according to the Dayton Power & Light online outage map. At its’ peak more than 1600 customers experienced an outage in Shelby County.

Darke Rural Electric Cooperative Inc. reported 716 customers without power at 11:15 p.m., and another 77 DP&L customers were without power as well., online outage maps showed. Power has since been restored to customers in that area.

Strong thunderstorms led to several tornado warnings across Darke County. All warnings have expired.
