DAYTON — A city man is facing an aggravated robbery charge after items were taken from a victim’s truck bed outside Gordons Jewelry & Loan on Wednesday.

Vance Mounts Jr. is being held at the Montgomery County Jail.

Mounts was taken into police custody after the victim reported he was leaving Gordons in the 1500 block of East 3rd Street when he saw the suspect going through his truck bed. The suspect and two other people were removing items from the truck.

The victim told police one of the suspects displayed a knife when he confronted him.

“The bald suspect took a knife out of his pocket and quickly whipped it open,” the victim told police, according to the incident report. “The suspect said, ‘I’m not the one to mess with!’”

After the knife was displayed, the victim got in his truck and left the area.

Police were able to identified Mounts using pawn shop surveillance video. Officers

recognized Mounts on the video.

On May 24, Mounts was named as a suspect in a county “drug blitz,” according to the Dayton police report.

The Dayton police report indicates Riverside officers reported Mounts “burnt his house up in an apparent meth lab fire,” the reporting officer wrote. “They were going to watch his house for activity , but he was no longer there.”

Police later located Mounts on North Irwin
