Suspect runs away after Middletown crash following chase

Police are questioning two people and searching for another after a crash that followed a short police pursuit this morning.

The incident began when an officer tried to stop a vehicle for speeding in a school zone around 6:45 a.m. near Middletown High School.

The vehicle fled, and police pursued for a short time before calling off the pursuit because it was in a busier area with foggy conditions, said Middletown police Sgt. Malcolm Tipton.

The vehicle crashed into another in the area of University Boulevard and Richardson Drive, and the driver ran away. Two people who also were in the vehicle stayed behind and were being interviewed by police.

We’ll update this story as we learn more.
