The easy way to save: Clip coupons

here’s the deal

Unless you have some secret trust fund set up somewhere, you probably would like to save more money. So long as it’s easy.

I am here to tell you the easiest way is couponing.

No, you don’t have to spend hours clipping or build a stockpile that rivals the back room of your local supermarket. All it takes is some strategy.

A co-worker once told me stores dread shoppers like me because I’m a “cherry-picker” who will only buy items on sale or those I know to be marked down.

What’s so wrong with cherries? They’re tasty and go well on top of sundaes — and with coupons and good planning I am earning my just desserts.

I challenge you to start looking at your weekly sales ad as a battle plan. Tell yourself you are only going to buy items that are reasonably priced on sale — that’s the key as not everything in the ad will be at a “sale” price.

Then head over to hotcouponworld.com and find coupons for those items. Click on the “coupon database” tab and enter the product name to discover what savings are available. Or, find a coupon blogger such as the Dayton/Cincinnati blog SavingsLifestyle.com that will match up the sales for you.

Don’t have a lot of coupons? Start saving and organizing the inserts you receive in your Sunday paper each week. If you are loyal to certain brands or products, “Like” their Facebook pages and go to their websites and join their newsletters.

Even better, write the company a letter explaining that you like those products but could use more coupons to better afford them. Often your efforts will be repaid in free or discount coupons.

And of course, check out the Here’s the Deal blog daily. I’ll tell you hot deals and where to find coupons to help you save more.

Already you’re saving. Wasn’t that easy?
