* Pause and look around when you stop

* Park close to the building, if possible
* Park close to a light pole or other illuminated fixtures
* Don’t be looking at your phone and look forward to what’s happening around you
It seems like common sense, but police say if you follow these simple gestures then you can help lower your risk of being a victim.
Police say if someone approaches you while in the parking lot, you should flee, scream and run. Then, call police right away.
