The high school football season kicks off tonight with week one of Touchdown 7. News Center 7 Sports Director Mike Hartsock will have all the highlights beginning at 11:15 p.m. on WHIO-TV.

Touchdown 7 is in its 30th year and provides highlights from almost a dozen games around the region, including the Play of the Week and the exciting Game of the Week.

As in years past, Touchdown 7 will highlight cheerleaders, the Dream Team, the Trench Team and the Marching Band Edition of Goodwill Stores Drive To Victory.

Forecast: Week 1 Touchdown 7

The Game of the Week, sponsored by Arby’s, highlights two teams that are evenly matched to see who will come out on top at the end of the night.

The Play of the Week will highlight the evening’s most exciting play and give you a taste of what our local football athletes are capable of.

The Cheerleaders of the Week feature showcases one of the region’s talented cheer-leading squads. These young ladies are the heart and soul of getting the crowd active and rooting on your favorite teams.

The Goodwill Stores Drive to Victory is in its 13th season with WHIO-TV. It’s a friendly competition each week between two local high schools that battle off the field in a donation drive benefiting Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley.

The Trench Team and Dream Team, sponsored by McAfee Heating and Air, will once again highlight some of the best talent on the football field. We start out with 20 players that we think are deserving of the honor.

Touchdown 7 will also feature a Sports Health Minute from Reid Hospital.

It all begins tonight beginning at 11:15 p.m. on WHIO-TV.
